Men's boxer shorts, as stated in the name, are men's underwear that look like little-boy shorts. They are worn under the pants or shorts to provide coverage as well as an extra layer of protection.

Some men tend to prefer boxer shorts because they are not as constricting as men's briefs and men's boxer briefs and they give the sensation of going without underwear altogether. Men's boxer shorts can be pretty fashionable, as they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns; men's boxer shorts also come in a wide variety of fabrics. If you look hard enough, you can find some humorous men's boxer shorts as well. Men tend to like the fact that boxer shorts are easier to put on and take off and that the front fly is much easier to use. Men who wear boxer shorts sometimes say that it causes the crotch to stay cooler than men's briefs and men's boxer briefs. For men who are not happy with their overall shape, boxer shorts can allow them to hide some of their problem areas that they are not so proud of. Men's boxer shorts can be used as loungewear. If someone walks in unannounced to a man standing in his boxers it is not as embarrassing as someone walking in unannounced to a man standing in his boxer briefs or his briefs.

Some men prefer other types of underwear because men's boxer shorts do not provide much support and can show erection if a man becomes aroused. Some men do not like the fact that the bottom openings on the legs provide a draft. Also a problem with men's boxer shorts is the waistband; some do not like that the waistband can cause irritation and can possibly ride up above their pants. Men's boxer shorts can also become bunched up when worn under pants.

To summarize, the overall opinion of men's boxer shorts is great for comfort because you will feel the cool breeze; not so good for support as in everyone will know exactly what is on your mind, literally.
